A Day in Gokarna
A day in Gokarna turned exactly where I was seeking for so long to throw me somewhere afar for a peaceful getaway. By visiting Gokarna I never thought I can be this much happier in my life.
I had been there only for a day but, it felt like an epoch. The evening had worn a silky golden brocade with a dark embroidery of dusk. My happiness had no bounds. Even the timid grass set wavy up to the rhythm of the drifting wind. A day in Gokarna, the then overwhelming sea breeze and sunshine kissing my skin still looks like yesterday.
Through the narrow roads having the portrayal of unknown betal spitians on the wall, sparing myself out of the compassionately eying stray dogs, past the hustle and bustle of the day end. I made my way to kudle beach.
I spent my day in kudle beach where natives provide a good number of hotels, lodging, and shacks for the visitors who come up.
When a tourist destination turns into a source of income
I was glad to find many of them have come up with ideas by renting their house and turning the leftover portion of lands into hotels and shacks so that they don’t have to commute for seeking jobs.
They learned exactly how to ride the wave by knowing what the tourist might prefer to do or wherein they would like to stay. The lodging they provide is very cheap and affordable for someone looking for a budget trip.
Small apartments build with woven coconut fonds in kudle beach
They have plenty of apartments and homestay facilities build with woven coconut fonds that make us feel free at home. They serve a wide variety of cuisines like Chinese and north Indian in both veg and non-dishes.
They came to know apparently how to tackle the tough time if they are in great need of hiring a chef, they would do. If they grew tame with cooking eventually they come forward. Like every tourist destination steering their life according to the fluctuation of seasons and fighting the recurring disasters, they also learned to move with the tide and take things it as it comes.
Public transportation in Gokarna
Gokarna is famous for its idyllic beaches and pilgrimage destinations in India. But I was sure I would not make it if I try to reach out to every place at one go. Because there were sites ( Om beach) to be hiked and had considerable distance (Mahabaleshwar temple) from one place to another. I thought hiring an autorickshaw is wise rather than an errand on foot.
Fast and furious; Even if they don’t we may go crazy whether this guy is a vin-diesel or what behind the wheels. Because they are expert drivers and they know exactly the short cuts and crooked roads. They come familiar with the stones and rough and tough patches on the road that comes on their way. Even if we believe it is hard to get through the slim roads no matter what they drive away without much labor.
Gokarna is well connected to the major and minor cities like Banglore, Mangalore, and Goa. Ankola is the nearest railway station and Dipolin (goa) is the nearest Airport. It is around 140 kilometers away from Gokarna.
If Gokarna is not on your bucket list of travel destinations, I feel sorry for you. On the other hand, If you are planning for one, Never go for a second thought.
